Adventure around Ganesh Himal & Ruby Valley Trekking begins with an interesting overland journey, heading northwest to the Rasuwa district. Located around Ganesh and Langtang Himal range reaching Syabrubesi Tamang village.Where adventure starts following on an old country trail through lovely traditional Gatlang and Somdang villages.After leaving behind the main trails and human settlement into the pure wilderness around pristine natural surroundings. The walk leads to higher hills covered in dense forest, then reaches Ganesh Himal Base Camp. Facing a dramatic change of landscapes from green lush vegetation to arid dry arctic terrain filled with ice and glaciers.From the highest point of the adventure at Ganesh Himal base camp, enclosed within towering snow peaks. The walk leads back into tree lines following a forested trail, then reaching the high ridges of Sing-La Pass. Which forms a boundary of Rasuwa, Nuwakott, and Dhading districts, from the top overlooking a grand panorama of Ruby Valley.As well of towering peaks of Ganesh, Langtang, and Manaslu Himal, stretches as far as the Annapurna Himalaya range.Crossing the high scenic Sing-La pass, down to beautiful verdant Ruby Valley surrounded by tiers of green rolling hills. On first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport received by our guide and staff with traditional greetings. Taking care of your baggage, and then a short drive to the hotel, located in the heart of a city near the exciting areas at Thamel. Check into your lovely rooms, after getting refreshed from the Jet-Lag, join in with other members for group briefing. Provided by your guide or Group Leader, offering information regarding the trek, hotels, local lodge. As well of local culture with do’s and don’ts, evening a group welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepali Restaurants. Entertains the environment with folk cultural program as introduction to Nepalese heritage and culture.
Morning after breakfast, at given time our city and cultural guide will receives you at the hotel. A short drive to the hub of Kathmandu city, for exciting tour of old Durbar Square / Palace Courtyard. The area is teemed with life and activities, a great way to soak into Nepalese cultures. Visiting historical and religious monuments listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites most of the ancient buildings.After an interesting time at Durbar Square, a short drive to Nepal’s most important landmark, the Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,600 years old history. A Buddhist monument tucked on a hill top west of the city, from here visit the Hindu holy temple of Pashupatinath. The tour continues to large dome Stupa of Bouddhanath, as well known as ‘Little Tibet’. A great place to enjoy the tour of the world’s largest Stupa with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha.Enjoying the day tour, transfer back to hotel rest of the afternoon preparation for the trekking and packing the right gear.
Morning depart from the hotel having an early breakfast, for a long exciting drive beyond Kathmandu valley. Heading due north leaving the warm paddy terraces reaching cooler hills at Dhunche, at 1,950 m. The major and headquarter town of Rasuwa district, where Langtang Himal and beautiful valley located.Dhunche town the entry point of Langtang National Park, from here drive leads on winding downhill to Syabrubesi village for overnight halt. A moderate size interesting Tamang village, the main tribe of Rasuwa within Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal region.Syabrubesi village beside Langtang valley it is also a gateway to various adventure destinations, and route to Nepal and Tibet / China border.
Start the first day trekking on leaving Syabrubesi, after a pleasant overnight stop as well having breakfast. The trail follows towards west on an old village path to Gatlang. Walk leads through small farm villages, then into a forest.The trail lead to a climb on gradual slope to a large village at Gatlang for overnight stop. On arrival welcomes you with warm traditional greetings offering with silk scarf called Khada, as well a taste of local brew.
Then retire to your overnight accommodation in a nice huts or a cottage, built and managed as Home-Stay program. Serving local traditional meals, with merriment of folk song and dance. A lively environment making your stay memorable at Tamang villages.
From Gatlang, morning walk starts with climb heading towards forested area up to Kurpu Danda at 3,739 m, offers views of Ganesh Himal as far to Annapurna Himalaya in the far west with Langtang Himal in the east.Walk proceeds from Kurpa Danda along the crest to traverse over a steep hillside, the walk is quite pleasant then descend into a pine forest coming across a newly built road. Following the road for a while, which extends to the army post at Samathang, our route follows up to the valley then reaching at the head of a valley. From here climb to a high ridge then end the day walks on reaching our overnight camp near Somdang farm village
Morning after hearty breakfast, prepared by our camping cook, as walk starts heading above Somdang village and the manganese mining area, from here tree lines drops for few short high altitude bush and shrubs. Climb above a river gorge, as walk leads on rocky path then traverse towards north-east to a small valley bounded by moraines below the glaciers of Paldor Peak and Ganesh Himal on reaching our first destination at Ganesh Himal base camp. Camp is set beneath the intersection of Paldor Peak and Ganesh Himal West next to a glacier just north of a fine rock pinnacle. Where earlier climber named Cleare called this area as 'Neddy's Thumb', at an altitude of 4,600 meters high.
Enjoy the free day around this dramatic landscapes of towering peaks and glaciers, a necessary day for acclimatization after breakfast explore around this unexplored area of sheer wilderness. The camp offers grand views of surroundings high peaks of Ganesh and Langtang Himal towards North-East direction.
After an enjoyable rest day at Ganesh Himal base camp, start the day heading down back into lush green vegetation and tall tree lines. Walk further west past few cattle herder temporary shelters amidst forest surrounding then reach to a wide clear field to set our overnight camp.
After a pleasant overnight stop with fresh cool morning, walk begins heading due south from the camp after few hours of good walk, and then climb to steep sided ridge for some hours to the top of Sing-La pass, rewards you with fantastic panorama of rolling green hills, valleys with towering snow mountain range of Ganesh Himal and its massive group of peaks, includes world 8th highest Mt. Manaslu in the west with Langtang Himal towards east direction. After enjoying magnificent views descend to the base of Sing-La pass at about 3,240 m for overnight camp.
We have reserved a free and spare day as contingency, understanding the nature of this raw country, due to its pristine and remote location where trail condition can lead to delay and change of route sometimes. As this region is least explored where changes can happed from landslides, damaged walking trail. This spare day allows us to maintain with our standard itinerary, if all goes well not having to use this free day, can spend this extra day on route Dhading Besi.
From here onward into beautiful Ruby Valley, as walk heads back into human settlement around farm villages, as morning route leads to Shertung and Chalis Gaon (it means a spread-out 40 smaller villages), as walk proceeds enjoy super views of Ganesh Himal as trail leads to a cool forest surroundings coming across cattle grazing areas with temporary shades and shelters of the local herder. After a pleasant walk then with short up and down to Shertung for refreshing stop. From here downhill for few hours to nice farm village of Chalis Gaon populated by the Tamang people a tribe of Tibetan origin interwoven to Buddhist religion and colorful culture.
After an enjoyable stop at Chalis-Gaon, morning starts with short climb to Tikka Danda, a high grassy ridge top offers grand views of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu peaks. From the top downhill then on gradual path to Tatopani (hot-spring) time permitting enjoy the warm and hot refreshing bathe and release the muscles from the week long trek of steep up and down.Enjoying a wonderful moment at Tatopani, continue journey to Nebar for overnight camp, a nice small isolated settlement situated within serene wilderness amidst lovely forest surroundings.
From here walk leads towards south west up to Timal-Danda then at Kapur a small farm village, facing marvelous sceneries of hills and mountains and then reach at Lapchet, from here few hours of good walk to Lapa-Gaon for overnight camping around the farm fields.
Today walk leads beyond Ruby valley following a trail past Kachet and Kichet to a small farm village, as walk enters a lovely woods facing views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal, and then a pleasant walk reach you at Ri-Gaon for overnight camp on a primary school yard or farm fields.
From here route leads further south towards Dhading district as temperatures gets warm along with drop of altitude on reaching low farm areas at Kutawa-Arukhet-Bandhan-Cheelang and then to Gumdi.Having time for short rest or for lunch stop, at Gumdi afternoon starts with climb to Dhangarchol 1,403 m high, offers views of snow peaks, then down to Phul-Kharka for overnight camp.
After an enjoyable time observing rural village farm life, an interesting morning walk heading down south towards warm area of rice paddies fields, walk past Dansing village and Su-Bhanjyang to a place called Ekle. From here walk leads to a large village of Hatiyakot. After a brief stop continue walk to Chisapani then descend to Ankhu Khola (stream) as climb starts to Jyamrung Danda ridge.Enjoy the view of surrounding beautiful landscapes then downhill to Chap Bhanjyang for last overnights in tented camping.
Today the last day walk of the adventure as morning starts heading around low warm farm area, as vegetation changes from alpine to semi-tropical as walk leads through scattered farm villages of Gola and Murli Bhanjyang, then finally end the trek on reaching Dhading Besi, a large town and district headquarter of Dhading.Here check into best available lodge, hotels or guest house for last overnight on the foot hills of Ganesh Himal, and then enjoy the last dinner and a party to celebrate among fellow members, guide and field staff.
From Dhading Besi town, depart for Kathmandu where morning drive heads towards Trisuli River then over a bridge to Malekhu town, from here on main highway as drive continues on winding road to Kathmandu. On reaching at Kathmandu transfer to your hotels, afternoon free for individual activities.
Enjoy the full free day in Kathmandu relaxing and recalling the memories of wonderful Langtang Valley. One can join in for another exciting tour of adjoining cities of Patan / Lalitpur and Bhaktapur, or enjoy individual activities shopping souvenirs of Nepal.
Your last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, as per your international flight time our staff transfer you to the airport. Then bid farewell to guide and staff as you enter the airport terminal for homeward bound flight, after a marvelous enjoyable adventure Around Ganesh Himal & Ruby Valley Trekking.
The best seasons for Around Ganesh Himal & Ruby Valley Trekking are in spring and autumn/fall however one can visit nearly all year round, except for the wet monsoon time of July and August. The main flow and high season are spring starting from March to May, where days are longer with enough sun-light hours. Spring, is the perfect season when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron of various species from tall trees to short bushes.Morning and late afternoon till night time is cold from 2,000 m above, chances of light rain and snow-fall sometimes.The next best season is autumn/fall, the high time for trekking around the Himalayas. Most days are crystal clear for scenic walks and best views, but short days due to sun-light hours. Can be much colder from late afternoon till the next morning before the sun hits the area. Chances of snow-fall sometimes from
2,500 m high.
Nepal is a country of the world’s highest mountain range known as the Himalayas, where 80 % of landscapes are covered by hills. As well as greater ridges and mountains, where one can expect walking ups and downhill.The only flat land of the country is located south, which extends from the Far East to the Far West of Nepal. The low land is known as the Terai belt, of sub-tropical climate, the country with most mid and high hills.The people around the hills, especially around Rasuwa and Dhading district around Ganesh Himal mostly populated by Tamang the highlanders of Central Himalayas.The Tamang of Ganesh Himal areas is interwoven with Buddhism religions and heritage culture, which is similar to Tibetan predecessors. Every house is adorned with prayer flags and villages have religious monuments and prayer walls.
The hills are lined with beautiful forests lined with rhododendron, oaks, hemlocks, pines, and fir trees. Higher up with Juniper and Birch trees, but soon gives away for short bushes and shrubs within rocky and windswept terrains.Lovely Tamang villages from Dhunche town and Syabrubesi onwards around Ganesh & Ruby Valley. The other places on the route are temporary settlements to cater to the needs of travelers with nice simple huts serving as lodges.
On leaving the Somdang village till to the end, overnights in tented camping. Includes, full support of camping kitchen unit of cook, kitchen staff, guides and porters to carry all the needful camping gear for the whole trekking.Nepal has more than 60 ethnic groups and 70 native spoken languages, with a blend of Hindu and Buddhism religions.On this trek expect more uphill climbs with downhill walks, but with constant views of snow-capped peaks.
