Langtang Valley & Gosainkund Trekking is an adventure covering the whole area and southern ridges of Langtang Himal. A great way to enjoy and experience these wonderful treks visiting both scenic sides of Langtang Himal and Central Himalayas.The beauty of Langtang Valley & Gosainkund trek, exploring lovely mountain villages, in the close shadow of snow peaks range. Where adventure leads to picturesque Langtang valley at Kyanjin settlement, enclosed by high snow mountains of Central Himalayas. Offers breathtaking views from scenic points of high Tserko or Kyanjin-Ri hills, located high above Langtang valley.An adventure of fewer than two weeks walks, where the first part of the journey takes you to beautiful Langtang valley. Where lovely settlement of Kyanjin, is situated in the heart of a valley, with an extra day to explore around. A perfect place at Kyanjin for rest days to support acclimatization before venturing to high Gosiankund glacial lakes.While at Kyanjin at an altitude above 3,749 m high, enjoy overlooking the grand scenery of the high snow mountain range. As well a perfect location to add extra heights along with glorious views of snow peaks.

After an exciting and marvelous time at Kyanjin within scenic Langtang Valley, the adventure continues toward our next destination to Gosainkunda.Walk follows down into a lovely dense forest path lined with tall rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, and pine trees. The area around Langtang also makes a good habitation for mountain wild animals and exotic birdlife. Langtang Himal region is also famous for elusive and endangered Red Pandas and snow leopards. The wildlife is often seen on the route to Langtang valley and Gosainkund, as the whole area falls within Langtang National Park.The adventure follows a higher route through the Tamang villages of Thulo Syabru and Sing Gompa, a place with an old monastery. From Sing Gompa uphill to our second major highlight reaching the glacial lakes of Gosainkund.Revered as the holiest of all holy sites around the greater Himalayan range, where once a year a great religious festival is held. In August as per the Hindu lunar calendar on auspicious full moon time.Where thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit for prayer and worship and have a dip in the icy pond of Gosainkund.Gosainkund the highest overnight stop at the height of 4,381 m / 14,375 feet, enjoy the views around a fascinating location. The next day’s adventure leads to the highest spot of the trek to cross over East Laurabinaya-La or Gosainkund Pass. The altitude of the highest spot on top of the Gosainkund pass is 4,609 m /15,100 feet high.On top rewards exciting scenery of dramatic rolling green hills with distant views of high snow peaks. From the high pass downhill as walk follows ups and down the trail to Helambu areas at Kutumsang. A nice farm village populated by Tamang, Sherpa with a few Hyalmo people the main tribes of the Helambu region.

From Kutumsang onwards on high scenic ridges through beautiful woodland and farm village, reaching Chisapani. A great lovely settlement with several good lodges, perched on top of a flat plateau. At Chisapani enjoy panorama of Central Himalayas with Ganesh, Langtang and Jugal Himal as far to Annapurna Himalaya range. Chisapani is also a famous and popular spot for stunning sunrise and sunsets that reflects on high snow-capped peaks.The last day trek from Chisapani leads to a long descent into a dense cool forest reaching Sundarijal. Located on the eastern rim of Kathmandu valley, where our marvelous walk completes taking a short drive to Kathmandu. After a great memorable experience and enjoyable adventure on Langtang Valley & Gosainkund Trekking.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On first arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport received by our guide and staff with traditional greetings. Taking care of your baggage, and then a short drive to the hotel, located in the heart of a city near the exciting areas at Thamel. Check into your lovely rooms, after getting refreshed from the Jet-Lag, join in with other members for group briefing. Provided by your guide or Group Leader, offering information regarding the trek, hotels, local lodge.As well of local culture with do’s and don’ts, evening a group welcome dinner in a nice authentic Nepali Restaurants. Entertains the environment with folk cultural program as introduction to Nepalese heritage and culture.

Day 2Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites of great interest.

Morning after breakfast, at given time our city and cultural guide will receives you at the hotel. A short drive to the hub of Kathmandu city, for exciting tour of old Durbar Square / Palace Courtyard. The area is teemed with life and activities, a great way to soak into Nepalese cultures. Visiting historical and religious monuments listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites most of the ancient buildings.After an interesting time at Durbar Square, a short drive to Nepal’s most important landmark, the Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,600 years old history. A Buddhist monument tucked on a hill top west of the city, from here visit the Hindu holy temple of Pashupatinath. The tour continues to large dome Stupa of Bouddhanath, as well known as ‘Little Tibet’. A great place to enjoy the tour of the world’s largest Stupa with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha.Enjoying the day tour, transfer back to hotel rest of the afternoon preparation for the trekking and packing the right gear.

Day 3Drive to Syabrubesi 1,470 m via Dhunche town 1,950 - 06 hrs.

Morning depart from the hotel having an early breakfast, for a long exciting drive beyond Kathmandu valley. Heading due north leaving the warm paddy terraces reaching cooler hills at Dhunche, at 1,950 m. The major and headquarter town of Rasuwa district, where Langtang Himal and beautiful valley located.Dhunche town the entry point of Langtang National Park, from here drive leads on winding downhill to Syabrubesi village for overnight halt. A moderate size interesting Tamang village, the main tribe of Rasuwa and Langtang Himal region.Syabrubesi village beside Langtang valley it is also a gateway to various adventure destinations, and route to Nepal and Tibet / China border.

Day 4Trek to Lama Hotel 2,350 m - 06 hrs.

From Syabrubesi our adventure starts, a pleasant walk to a bridge and then climb leads to higher hill within isolated farm land. As trail follows into a river gorge covered in dense forest of tall rhododendron, oaks and pine trees. After hours of uphill then on gradual path reaching a nice clearing at Lama Hotel, a small settlement having number of simple lodges. Located amidst forest surrounding close to Langtang glacial river, enjoy the overnight stay with the sound of a river flow.

Day 5Trek to Langtang village 3,310 m - 05 hrs.

After an overnight in a quiet surrounding of a forest at Lama Hotel, wake up to sound of birds. Having breakfast, set off for another exciting day walk towards our next overnight destination at Langtang village. The trail follows through lovely forest trail on a fast flowing river gorge, then reaching a clearing at Ghode-Tabla. A small place with Park warden post with few lodges and small restaurants for lunch stop. Afternoon walk on gradual path into a cool shade of forest, then reaching Langtang village for overnight halt. This Tamang village provides number of simple good lodges, the area is adorned with Buddhist prayer monuments.Here one can notice a memorial of local native and few foreign trekkers who lost life in a great earthquake that shook the whole Mid-East and Western Nepal.The big earthquake of 2015 in the month of April and May. The whole village was destroyed, slowly returning back to normal as it was before.

Day 6Trek to Kyanjin Gompa 3,749 m - 04 hrs.

Today a short morning walk of few hours to our main final destination at Kyanjin, located within scenic Langtang valley. Start the morning with short climb
as walk follows on leaving the dense forest behind for complete mountain wilderness. After three hours or more of pleasant walk reaching lovely settlement
at Kyanjin, the highest overnight halt of the adventure. A place with number of fine guest houses and lodges having comprehensive food menu, at Kyanjin check into a nice lodge. Having lunch rest of the afternoon relax and marvel the beautiful surrounding snow peaks.

Day 7Rest-Day for acclimatization and hike to view points.

A free day for acclimatization as well for exciting hike to Tsego-Ri or Kyanjin-Ri at above 4,700 m high. Offers grand panorama of Ghengu Liru (Langtang II 6,571 m / 21,560 feet), Langtang Lirung (7,425 m / 23,765 feet). Includes Kim shun (6,745 m / 22,137 feet) with Shalbachum (6,918 m / 22, 699 feet) and towards south. Views of Chimsedang high ridge with Naya-Kanga 5,846 m or Ganjala Himal with Gangchenpo and Tillman’s beautiful Fluted Peak. The view extends towards Jugal Himal in the east, and ending at Dorje Lakpa (6,966 m / 22,854 feet), includes views of high peaks across the border of Tibet. After a scenic and exciting day, enjoy rest of the afternoon exploring around Kyanjin with a small interesting monastery.

Day 8Trek to Lama Hotel - 06 hrs.

Return journey on the same interesting route but quite long day walk of the trip.Morning enjoying the grand views of surrounding towering snow peaks, then down to Langtang village and back into forest. As walk continues past Gode Tabla then ending the days walk reaching Lama Hotel for overnight stop.

Day 9Trek to Upper / Thulo Syabru village 2,118 m - 06 hours walk.

From Lama Hotel morning walk on the same trail for short while, reaching a River side a places with shops and tea houses. After a small stop, walk into a bamboo grooves to a place called as Bamboo for possible lunch break.

Day 10Trek to Sing Gompa / Chandanbari 3,254 m - 05 hrs.

Morning on leaving Thulo Syabru, climb starts above the village into dense forest of pines and rhododendron trees. Heading past few smaller farm settlement
reaching an open large field and then on nice path through lovely woods.As walk completes for the day reaching at a nice small village in Sing Gompa, also
called Chandanbari. Which means a place with sandal wood, check into a nice lodge for overnight stop. The village with a monastery on top of the lodge, which is on route to next day destination.

Day 11Trek to Gosainkund 4,381 m / 14,375 feet - 05 hrs.

After a good breakfast, starts with short steep climb above the village facing superb panorama of western Himalayan range. Overlooking views of massif
Ganesh Himal and Manaslu as far towards Annapurna Himalayas, walk follows on gentle path entering a dense cool forest. As walk continues facing excellent view of Langtang Himal range and then leaving the forest behind where climb starts.The trail follows a high steep path to Laurabinaya hill top on route encountering few small shops and tea-houses. Area around is called Laurabinaya, where pilgrims leaves their walking sticks, after visiting Gosainkund for worship and prayers. Hence it is called Laurabinaya, a place with walking poles or sticks, adventure continues to Laurabinaya high ridge. A short downhill, then walking close to Bhairab and Saraswati Kund / ponds climb to reach Gosainkund and its wide glacial pond. Certainly a mystical environment of religious background, surrounded by high rock cliffs and snow peaks. Gosainkund with few simple lodge for overnight stop, rest of the afternoon enjoy a short walk around the holy pond.

Day 12Trek to Ghopte Odar 3,566 m via Gosainkund / Laurabina-La 4,609 m /15,100 ft.

On leaving Gosainkund, morning starts on gradual path following the Gosiankund pond shore line, as climb starts over rocky trail. Coming across few smaller glacial ponds, the reach on top of Gosainkunda Pass or East Laurabinaya-La. Stand on the highest spot of the adventure facing tremendous scenery of Surrounding beautiful landscapes with snow peaks. From the top a slow long descent to the bottom at Phedi with few small huts. Serving as tea-houses for travelers and pilgrims. From here on gradual path with short ups and down to Ghopte for overnight halt. Ghopte, a small settlement with few simple lodges located amidst forest surroundings. The name Ghopte derived from a nearby large overhanging cave, which houses as natural shelter for travelers in early days till present.

Day 13Trek to Kutumsang 2,445 m - 06 hrs.

From here on back into green forest and tall trees, morning walk starts heading south east direction. Entering on the rim of Helambu area, as walk proceeds with climb to a high ridge of Thadepati for lunch. This high hill houses many small lodges and tea-shops, which is on route to Helambu villages and towards
Kathmandu. Located at above 2, 750 m high, offers grand views of Langtang and Jugal Himal range. After lunch downhill into a dense tall tree rhododendron and pines, as walk ends on reaching at a nice village in Kutumsang for overnight halt.

Day 14Trek to Chisapani 2,195 m via Gul Bhanjyang 2,125 m - 06 hrs.

oday’s journey a long day walks to Chisapani near Kathmandu valley, morning starts downhill with few short ups and down. Then reaching a large lovely Tamang village of Gul Bhanjyang, a possible lunch stop. From here walk on a high ridge leading downhill to Patibanjyang village, and then short climb to Chisapani for last overnight on the high hills of Langtang Himal region. Chisapani, a small settlement with good lodges and guest houses, facing views of Langtang, Ganesh and Jugal Himal range. This place is also famous for stunning sunrise and sunset views, a popular place. Located above Kathmandu valley rim and on route to famous Nagarkot hill.

Day 15Trek to Sundarijal 1,380 m with an hour drive to Kathmandu.

Last day of adventurous walks, morning catching striking sunrise over array of Himalayan white peaks. Having a last breakfast on the hills of Himalayas, a few hours walk downhill. The morning trail follows with short ups and down into lovely woods through farm village of Burlang Bhanjyang. Walking into a pretty spot of Sundarijal area with streams and waterfalls, and then descent to the town of Sundarijal. Where walk completes, taking a short drive of an hour or less entering back to hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu.Drive to the hotel, after checking into a nice rooms, rest of the day free at leisure for individual activities or shopping souvenirs of Nepal.

Day 16International departure for homeward bound.

Final day at Kathmandu and in amazing Nepal, as per your international flight time our staff transfer you to the airport. Then bid farewell to guide and staff as you enter the airport terminal for homeward bound flight, after a marvelous enjoyable adventure to Langtang Valley & Gosainkund Trekking.

      Best Seasons

      The best seasons for Langtang Valley & Gosainkund Trekking are in spring and autumn/fall however one can visit nearly all year round, except for the wet monsoon time of July and August.The main flow and high season are spring starting from March to May, where days are longer with enough sun-light hours. Spring, is the perfect season when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron of various species from tall trees to short bushes.Morning and late afternoon till night time is cold from 2,000 m above, chances of light rain and snow-fall sometimes. The next best season is autumn/fall, the high time for trekking around the Himalayas. Most days are crystal clear for scenic walks and best views, but short days due to sun-light hours. Can be much colder from late afternoon till the next morning before the sun hits the area. Chances of snow-fall sometimes from 2,500 m high.

      What to Expect

      Nepal is a country of the world’s highest mountain range known as the Himalayas, where 80 % of landscapes are covered by hills. As well as greater ridges and mountains, where one can expect walking ups and downhill.The only flat land of the country is located south, which extends from the Far East to the Far West of Nepal. The low land is known as the Terai belt, of sub-tropical climate, the country with most mid and high hills.The people around the hills, especially around the Rasuwa district of Langtang Himal populated by Tamang the highlanders of Central Himalayas.The Tamang of Langtang Himal areas are interwoven with Buddhism religions and heritage culture, which is similar to Tibetan predecessors. Every house is adorned with prayer flags and villages have religious monuments and prayer walls.The hills are lined with beautiful forests lined with rhododendron, oaks, hemlocks, pines, and fir trees. Higher up with Juniper and Birch trees, but soon gives away for short bushes and shrubs within rocky and windswept terrains.Lovely Tamang villages from Dhunche town and Syabrubesi onwards around Langtang Valley. The other places interesting cultural villages on the route to Kathmandu are Kutumsang and Gul Bhanjyang.Nepal has more than 60 ethnic groups and 70 native spoken languages, with a blend of Hindu and Buddhism religions.On this trek expect more uphill climbs with downhill walks, but with constant views of snow-capped peaks. Overlooking Langtang and Ganesh Himal as far as the Jugal Himal range.
