Overview

Like the name itself suggests this trek takes you around the perimeters of Kathmandu valley. The valley of Kathmandu is small, but fascinating and culturally and naturally rich. Once few kilometres away from the realms of city influence, one can enjoy the traditional lifestyle and activities in villages with views of snow-capped mountains far behind. Different Himalayan ranges and mountains like Langtang , Ganesh Himal ( 7,422m), Gauri Shankar (7,134m) and Dorje Lakpa (6,966m) can be viewed from afar in this short trek. The valley rim trek is for those who have very short time to spend here in Nepal but would like to get the most out of it. This trek is also very beneficial for those who are preparing for a longer and more adventurous trek. Viewpoints like Jhule, Dhulikhel, Nagarkot, Balthali and Chisapani offer trekkers with 180 degree view of mountains above 6000m.Ranging from 1800m to 2800 metres, this short trek gives trekkers the warmth of rural hospitality, the pleasure of going through traditional bucolic setting, insight into traditional farming ways and daily lives of rural Kathmandu. Also, beautiful sunrises and sunsets over layers of blue hills with mountains in the background, and green plantation at the foothills is something to look forward to. Trekkers can experience Mountain views of Annapurna in the far West and the Mighty Everest to the east. This trek offers camping and tea-house or lodges or home stay lodging options.
Main attractions: This trek is a complete package of merger between nature and culture. You will go through the bio-diverse Shivapuri National Park, see amazing views of Mountains like Langtang, Manashlu, Ganesh Himal and mountains views extending as far as Annapurna in the west to Everest at the east. Kathmandu valley can be seen in pan focus as well. The rich and unique culture of the Tamangs is a major attraction as well.
Best Season: As the altitude is not above 3000m, the trek is not so very difficult in winter times as well. However, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November or early December) are considered to be the best seasons for this trek.

Itinerary

Day 1kathmandu-sundarijal-mulkharka

40 drive to Sundari Jal, 4/5 hours trek to Chisapani passing throw the lovely land scape of shivapuri nagarjun national park Overnight at camp or a lodge in Mulkharka

Day 2mulkharka-nagarkot

after having breakfast our trek will be continued to nagarkot. This day we can get amazing experiences of natural diversity along rich cultural diversity of local tamang community. During the couple of hours of walking we will pass several villages and different culture of Buddhist people. 6/7 hours trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot. Overnight in Nagarkot

Day 3nagarkot-namabuddha-dhulikhel

early in the morning we can see the sunrise view on the langtang himlayan range. Which can be incredible movement of your entire trip. After breakfast our mission would be the another famous destination call namabudhha, which is considered one the of secret place for buddhiest devotees. According to Buddhist legend once prince Buddha had gone for hunting with his three brothers. One the way he found a tiger with 5 newly born babies who was almost die by hunger. After that price offered his entire body to them. Later on his rest of the body was found at the namabudhha. Also believed that it is the place where dudhha was stayed for meditation. 4-5 hours of trek from Nagarkot to Namabudhha, overnight in Dhulikhel

Day 4dhulikhel-kathmandu

Back to Kathmandu by road (1 hour)
