Overview

Poon Hill & Mt. Annapurna Base Camp Trekking is a combination of two incredible trekking experiences in Nepal. It starts with the scenic Poon Hill trek, famous for sunrise views, and extends to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) for close-up encounters with the towering peaks of the Annapurna range.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
Transfer to your hotel and rest for the day.

Day 2Tour of Kathmandu heritage sites

Visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 3Fly or drive to Pokhara (860 m)

Flight: A 30-minute scenic flight over the Himalayas.
Drive: A 6-hour road journey through hills, rivers, and scenic countryside.

Day 4Drive to Bhirethati (1,100 m) and trek to Tirkhedhunga (1,425 m)

Drive to the trek's starting point at Bhirethati (around 2 hours).
Begin the trek with a gradual ascent through terraced fields and small villages to Tirkhedhunga.

Day 5Trek to Ghorepani (2,885 m)

Climb the stone steps of Ulleri, followed by a trek through lush rhododendron and oak forests.
Reach Ghorepani, a vibrant village with views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 6Morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) and trek to Tadapani (2,640 m)

Early morning hike to Poon Hill for a spectacular sunrise and panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
Return to Ghorepani for breakfast and trek through dense forests to Tadapani.

Day 7Trek to Chhomrong village (1,951 m)

Descend to Kimrong Khola and climb through terraced fields and forests to Chhomrong, a Gurung village with stunning views of Machapuchare and Annapurna South.

Day 8Trek to Dovan (2,130 m) via Bamboo (2,050 m)

Trek through lush bamboo forests and cross several streams to reach Dovan. The trail passes through serene landscapes.

Day 9Trek to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,720 m)

Ascend through alpine landscapes with stunning views of Machapuchare (Fishtail) and other peaks.
Arrive at Machhapuchhre Base Camp, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 10Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m)

A gradual ascent into the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Arrive at Annapurna Base Camp, surrounded by towering peaks including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.

Day 11Trek to Bamboo (2,050 m)

Descend back through the same trail to Bamboo, retracing your steps amidst alpine forests.

Day 12Trek to Jhinu Danda (1,700 m)

Trek down to Jhinu Danda, where you can relax in natural hot springs by the river.

Day 13Short walk and drive to Pokhara (860 m)

A short trek to the road-head followed by a drive back to Pokhara.
Enjoy the evening exploring Phewa Lake or relaxing at a lakeside café.

Day 14Fly or drive to Kathmandu

Return to Kathmandu by flight or road. Spend your final evening exploring or shopping for souvenirs.

Day 15International departure

Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure.

      What to Expect

      Nepal is a country of the world’s highest mountain range known as the Himalayas, where 80 % of landscapes are covered by hills. As well as greater ridges and mountains, where one can expect walking ups and downhill.

      The only flat land of the country is located south, which extends from the Far East to the Far West of Nepal. The low land is known as the Terai belt, of sub-tropical climate, the country with most mid and high hills. 

      The people around the hills, especially around Annapurna Himalaya’s southern range and route Base Camp populated by Gurung the hill tribes of Annapurna Himalaya range. Practice Buddhism with ancient Bon a pre-Buddhism cult and religion. One can witness around the villages with every houses festooned with Buddhist with prayer flags.

      The lower areas of Annapurna Himalaya are heavily cultivated with paddy and other seasonal crops. The hills are cooler covered in beautiful rainforests and higher areas. The hills are lined with rhododendron, oaks, hemlocks, and pine trees. Nepal has more than 60 ethnic groups and 70 native spoken languages, with a blend of Hindu and Buddhism religions. 

      On this trek expect more uphill and downhill walks, but with constant views of snow-capped peaks. Overlooking Annapurna and Dhaulagiri as far as Manaslu Himalaya range.

      People with enough time in Nepal, can join in for various adventure sports activities in Pokhara. Likewise Paragliding, Ultra-Light Flight, Bungee Jumping, Zip Flyer, White water or scenic float Rafting.
